The Eleague CS: GO Invitational is the last Premier LAN event before the commencement of the CS: GO Major. However, it is not as stacked as some of the other Eleague tournaments. In fact, it has only four teams in attendance, and not all of them are Tier one teams.

The tournament features four teams namely BIG Gaming, Cloud9, Complexity Gaming and Faze Clan. These four teams are not representative of the best teams in the world. However, there is a sort of delicacy in the balance of the teams' rankings. Faze Clan has recently introduced a new player and coach. This definitely makes them one of the unknown performers at this event. On the other hand, BIG Gaming is a team that is rarely seen at multiple LAN events. However, they always have a great grenade usage in the games that they are involved in. The team always receives praise from the casters and analysts for their strategies and their playstyle.

Complexity might not be one of the strongest teams, but it has a loyal fanbase. They have Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert as a stand-in for this event. It is a four-team event and there is technically a 25% chance for this team. The last and final team in this event is Cloud9. Cloud9 is a team that has made changes to its team recently and they are an unknown force in the tournament. Judging from their roster; they have the potential to defeat Faze Clan and take home the trophy.

The Eleague CS: GO Invitational will take place from the 25th to 27th of January, 2019. It takes place at the Eleague Arena in Atlanta. All the matches will be streamed live on Twitch.

Faze Clan

Faze Clan Roster:

  • Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev
  • åvard "rain" Nygaard
  • Nikola "NiKo" Kovač
  • Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács
  • Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer Gustafsson

The Faze Clan roster did not look particularly strong in their match against Cloud9. Losing to Cloud9 in both the map [ although they were overtime> does not speak well for the team's chances to make it into the Top tiers of counter strike. They are extremely talented on an individual level as well as have developed enough chemistry on the roster.

Guardian will need to step up his individual performance and become the superstar on the team once more.

The Faze roster has brought on AdreN to their team as the latest addition. He replaces Karrigan on the team and that is a monumental shift in the final results of the team. As we see the changes to the team's leadership, it is important for the team to ensure that they understand Niko's playstyle properly. Niko has an idea of how he wants to play the game. With karrigan on the team, there was an obvious clash of opinions near the very top.

AdreN is a good pick for Faze Clan and will play a very supportive role on the roster. This frees up the rest of the team to ensure that they can put up strong performances repeatedly. The team has great players such as Guardian, Rain, Olofmeister and Niko. Each of these players can take over the game in their own right. With Adren feeling comfortable in his role as the support player on the team; the rest of the team will get the required space to make a bigger impact on the game.

Can Olofmeister rise to the top of the CSGO scene with this new Faze Clan roster once more?

The team has the likes of Niko on their roster. His position as the World's best player is obviously gone, thanks to the team's miserable performance. But he remains one of the most skilled players in CS: GO. His individual level of performance is at a high and he can ensure that the team gets out of sticky situations. However, he had taken on the role of the In-Game Leader for several months now, and that was obviously affecting him on an individual level.

Apart from Niko; however, Faze Clan has players such as Guardian and Olofmeister. These are well-known players who have been at the top of the CS: GO scene in their best days. Ofcourse, their current form is a glimmer of their former selves. However, it is still very capable of ensuring some amazing plays. Guardian's playstyle relies on him being able to provide aggressive peaks He makes these aggressive peeks which usually rely upon a frag. Ultimately, it provides a big advantage to the team as they are able to ensure amazing plays.

Faze Clan does not look as strong as some of their previous plays and that will be a big problem for the team coming into this match. Fortunately for them, they are up against a much weaker roster in the form of Complexity Gaming. They can ensure that they will provide the best foot forward for their individual players. With this win, the team can regain much of its confidence and advance further in the Eleague CS: GO Invitational 2019.

Complexity Roster:

  • Rory "dephh" Jackson
  • Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz
  • Shahzeeb "ShahZaM" Khan
  • Ricky "Rickeh" Mulholland
  • Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert ( stand-in)

The Complexity team did not have a great performance against BIG Gaming yesterday. Mostly, they were unable to handle Smooya who went on a rampage with the AWP. With a KDA of +22; Smooya's confidence levels were through the roof. He was constantly moving around the map and surprising Complexity.

N0thing is standing in for the team during Eleague CSGO Invitational 2019.

There are many positives for this team. They have a great bunch of players and with the experience and skill level of N0thing on the team; we might see this team surprise us. They are up against Faze Clan, one of the favourites for the Eleague CS: GO Invitational 2019.

Stanislaw's leadership presents the biggest advantage that Complexity has in this match. The North American side is not really a contender for this tournament and is probably the worst team in the tournament. Complexity's fortunes rely on their ability to surprise their opponents and win this match. They have Shahzam who was once the best AWPer in North America. However, the player has not been in excellent form for quite some time. It might have to do with the remainder of the team not giving him the same amount of space as he needs. Or it might just be that he has just lost touch with his form. Either way, the key to Complexity's success and their chances of securing a win at this tournament remain in the hands of Shahzam.

Shahzam will have a big impact on the overall performance. As he will be up against a very confident Smooya, we expect Smooya to take immense risks in order to assert his dominance. Can Shahzam punish him for his risky playstyle? If he does manage to do so, he might be single-handedly responsible for the lack of performance by BIG Gaming. After all, BIG relies a bit too much on Smooya to make the plays for them.

The AWP battle will be very interesting to watch for viewers. It will determine the pace of the game for the two teams.

Despite Faze Clan not putting up a performance which truly represents their full capacity against the likes of Cloud9, they are still the better team in this match-up. The sheer level of their skill ceiling is just too high for Complexity to possibly match. We have seen Complexity being extremely comfortable on a certain subset of maps. So if Faze Clan can ensure that they are able to avoid these maps, or at least make Complexity uncomfortable on these maps, we might have a real game on our hands. After all, Complexity is not well-known for their ability to adapt to their opponents.

The team is playing with a stand-in, and while that can mean a very good improvement in the team's firepower; it does cause tactical problems for the team. They will require a lot of time to adjust to the new team and their gameplay. The Complexity roster was anyways not as good as that of Faze Clan. With a stand-in, despite it being N0thing; their chances of causing an upset in this Best of three feels even smaller.

We recommend a bet on Faze CLan for this match.
