The Counter-Strike scene moves to Chicago for the next few days as we head to IEM Chicago 2018. The tournament will see several teams from all across the globe participating in the event. There are a total of 16 teams at the event competing for a prize pool of $250,000. The event takes place at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The event started on the 6th of November and will continue till the 11th. While Astralis is considered to be the strongest team in the tournament, we have not seen them perform at the same level of dominance since the FaceIT London Major 2018.

The IEM Chicago tournament will be crucial for the teams aiming to prove themselves on the big stage. While the top teams are obviously competing for the title, many smaller teams are also aiming to prove themselves amongst the bigger fish.

The tournament will feature a double elimination format where every team will get a chance to prove themselves. The format allows teams to make mistakes and yet have a chance to qualify for the Playoffs. So far in the tournament, teams like North, MiBr and Natus Vincere have been eliminated from the tournament.

Astralis vs Mousesports

Astralis Roster :

  • Dupreeh
  • Device
  • MagisK
  • Glaive
  • Xyp9x

The Astralis roster has not looked at their strongest self so far at IEM Chicago 2018. The team which was once considered unbeatable due to their dominance on the map is now facing a situation where they might be losing a lot of their lustre. During the FaceiT London Major, Astralis had a plan and they executed it to perfection. However, since then, Valve has made changes to the playstyle and the general economy of the game. This includes more money to the CT sides, providing an opportunity for teams to keep buying into the third round as well.

The Danish roster’s performance in the recent months has been largely due to two people on the team. One is Glaive, their In-Game Leader, the other person is Zonic. The two devise some really cool strategies and they have furnished the excellent mid-round calls by the In-Game Leader. Glaive was brought onto the team after Kjaerye left the team for North. Under this team, he was ablet o manufacture a team full of synergy and excellent playstyle. His mid-round calls are most evident on a map like Nuke. We can see how the team evaluates its positioning in the middle of the map

At the same time, we also have the likes of Device and Dupreeh who have provided the firepower to make this team as strong as it is. The two players have been the pillars of the Danish top level Counter-Strike for a long time. They are able to make amazing plays in the game. Their adventurous nature when it comes to pushing certain sections of the map makes Astralis such as Dangerous team. We see the team take advantage of the early information that it gains with these pushes. It is not rare to see the team move in cohesion across the map.

Overall, Astralis is a very well-rounded team, one that is capable of making excellent performances throughout the tournament. However, as we look into the team’s performance in the future we will see how they can keep up with all the new teams that try their best to counter them.

Mousesports Roster:

  • ChrisJ
  • Sunny
  • Styko
  • Oskar
  • Ropz

The Mousesports roster recently made some changes to their team. They decided to get rid of Snax and get back Styko on their roster. This move is excellent cause they were one of the best teams with Styko on their team. But they decided, for whatever reason, to get Snax onto their team. The team’s performance since the addition of Styko has been somewhat better than their performance with Snax.

Styko’s performance on this team will be crucial to the team’s overall performance. The team’s performance has definitely improved in the past few weeks. With Styko on this team, they have a much better chemistry with the old player back on the team. The playstyle that the players adopt with Styko back on the roster plays to their strengths. They don’t have to cater to Snax’s ego anymore and we see how that has affected their performance.

Overall, we will see Ropz also play a crucial role int he team’s future. He was a bright player who got onto the team from the FaceIT Pro League. His high level of skill is the reason why he is so consistent despite not playing at his peak level. The young player learns a lot from the other players on the roster such as ChrisJ and Oskar. They will be very useful in guiding the young player in nurturing his talent and enabling the way he behaves on the roster.

The X-factor on the team remains Oskar. He has been indefinitely consistent and yet he has been able to put up big numbers on the team. His ability to constantly be near the top of the scoreboard irrespective of his opponents is what makes him a staple feature on this team. He has excellent aim and while his temperament might not be the best in all times, we can see how he is crucial to the team’s overall results.

So far, Mousesports do look quite strong and they are definitely a team that can possibly defeat the likes of Astralis.

Astralis is looking decent, but they are definitely not unbeatable as they were a few months ago. The Danish roster looks very vulnerable right now, especially after the drudging they got from Faze Clan. The Astralis roster is a team that has been near the top of the scene for so long. As such other teams can easily understand their gameplay and how to counter them. Despite this, the Astrlias roster still has a very good skill-ceiling when it comes to their talent.

The Mousesports roster is on an upward trajectory. They are definitely improving when it comes to their performance with Styko. This is mostly due to the comfort that the players feel with Styko on the roster. This current batch of players has little to no ego, and they understand the way the others on the teams think. Mousesports is also looking to make sure that they make big results with this current roster. If they succeed with this roster, it would only make them stronger when it comes to the future with the roster. It would instil confidence in the team’s management when it comes to this roster.

For now, we recommend a low bet on Mousesports. Not only do they have better odds but they can also have a decent chance of winning this match.
