The Starseries & I-League tournament returns in 2019 with a bigger prize pool and excitement for the event. It has a prize pool of $500,000 which is a significant improvement over its previous editions. The increase in the prize pool mainly comes from wanting to stay relevant in the CS: GO scene. We will see many top teams participating in the event. The event has a total of sixteen teams. Twelve teams have received a direct invite to the tournament. The remaining four teams come via online qualifiers. Each of the following regions has its own online qualifier and will send one team to the Main event.

  1. North America
  2. European Qualifier
  3. CIS Qualifier
  4. Asian Qualifier

This match is the semifinals of the Starseries & I-League Season 7 European Qualifiers. The winner of this match gets a chance to possibly qualify for the Main event. They still will have to win more matches if they win against their opponents. Heroic and Red reserve play after defeating their opponents with relative comfort in the quarterfinals.

The StarSeries & i-League returns for its 7th Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Season. The tournament will feature an increased prize pool of $500,000 USD. For the seventh season, StarSeries will return to the best-of-three format for the Swiss stage – which StarLadder describes as “the most successful and objective system” – after the previous event used a best-of-one format in the opening stage.

Heroic

Heroic Roster:

  • MODDII
  • E3tag
  • Friberg
  • Aciilion
  • Mertz

The Danish and Swedish mixture of players makes up the heroic roster. This team has seen the addition of Friberg and Moddii as they make up for a fantastic mixture of Swedish and Danish players.

Mertz is the player who can make or break this team. While they might not crumble if Mertz does not perform to his best. However, when he does put up a big number, Heroic looks exemplary and really strong. The Heroic roster has the talent and the necessary experience to possibly even take down some Tier One teams. But they are woefully inconsistent and that is the biggest reason why they are not yet a Tier one team right now.

Friberg’s presence on the team shows how the team can gel together. They are extremely strong and Friberg always keeps the team’s spirits at a high level. His attitude is the reason why the younger players will come together and try their best to perform really strong.

For Heroic, their map pool is significant opposite that of Red reserve. While Red Red Reserve is good on maps like Cache, Dust 2, Train and Overpass; Heroic’s performance is better on maps such as Inferno and Nuke.

Red Reserve

Red Reserve Roster:

  • Hampus
  • Disco Doplan
  • FreddieB
  • Draken
  • RustY

The Red Reserve team recently lost two members to Fnatic. Although it’s been almost two months since the roster change, they are definitely feeling the impact of the roster change till now. The loss of Brollan and Twist took away considerable firepower from the roster. Their inability to play at the same level if quite evident in their recent matches.

The current roster for Red Reserve still sees a lot of hope. They have likes of Disco Doplan. freddieB, Draken on their team. Many of these players are on the verge of transitioning into becoming the best players for Sweden. As such, it is important for them to assert their dominance in this match and lower tier tournaments.

Draken has already played on top-tier teams such Fantc in the past. His experience and raw skill with the AWP has been crucial to Red Reserve’s performance. They need Draken to make aggressive plays on multiple areas of the map. As such it is important for Draken to set the pace of the series. Without him putting up big numbers or at least putting up the pressure on their opponents, it is important for the team to provide Draken with the space needed to make such plays. However, Draken can be a very inconsistent player. He is very vocal on social media about their opponents, he adds a certain flair to the game. However, his inconsistency does not allow Draken to always put up the same face. He is responsible for his own game and we hope to see him perform really well, especially when it comes to lower tier teams such as their opponents for today.

Now the Red Reserve team is made up of several other members. They succeed cause they have the ability to provide the best synergy amongst themselves. Hampus Poser is the In-Game leader on this team. His role does not receive its due exposure as he is responsible for making the team perform together. Red Reserve’s roster is a symbol of great performance and synergy. Their map pool is very good.

The Red Reserve team is extremely comfortable on maps such as Cache, Dust 2, Train and Overpass. The team’s superior aim comes in effect during the matches on these maps. The open nature of Cache and Dust 2 allows for the team to play to its strengths. On Train and Overpass, Hampus definitely has the bigger role as he is responsible for making some amazing mid-round calls.

Prediction:

Nuke will be a key element of this matchup. The Danish – Swedish mix is very good on Nuke and as such it will be a key veto for Red reserve. They have not much experience when it comes to Nuke. it shows in their past performances. Since every team only gets one veto, we wonder where Red Reserve will decide to veto. They can choose to veto Nuke and then heroic will pick Inferno. Or Red Reserve could decide for the third and final map. Their advantage comes in the map pool and they need to use their superior map pool to their advantage.

However, all is not lost for Heroic as their experience is significantly higher than that of Red reserve. While the players are currently strong on only a few maps, they are not really ignorant or weak on other maps. Over the course of their careers, they have played on almost every map with a huge significance. They are also looking very strong right now, as the core of the roster has been together for quite some time. We recommend a bet on Heroic for this match.

The Dreamhack open Winter is one of the most prestigious and staple events in the CS: GO Calendar year. Over the years, we have seen the Dreamhack Winter be a CS: GO major for more one time. There are very few tournaments who can claim to such fame and opportunities as Dreamhack Winter.

The current edition of Dreamhack Winter will enable many Tier, two teams, to come together in an attempt to win the trophy. Winning a Dreamhack Winter tournament is not only about the prize pool but also the dignity and the prestige that comes along with it. There are a total of eight teams attending the tournament and we will see them clashing head-on at the Elmia Convention Center in Jönköping, Sweden. Coming to the roots of Dreamhack, they have always helped the growth and development of local talent in CS: GO.

  • 7th-8th Place: $2000

Heroic

Heroic CS:GO roster:

  • MODDII
  • E3tag
  • Friberg
  • Aciilion
  • Mertz

The Danish roster is undefeated at Dreamhack Winter 2018  so far. With some excellent synergy and a decent map pool, Heroic looks like a formidable team in this tournament. They have played only two matches, but the margin with which they won these matches makes us believe in a strong showing from the Danish team at the tournament. They won their matches against LDLC and Complexity, defeating these teams in under 10 rounds easily.

The Heroic roster is a mixture of Swedish and Danish players, however, these are some of the more experienced players in Europe. They have been playing CS: GO and some of them together for a very long time. Their experience of playing at the top level and alongside/against each other does come in handy when they go against the younger generation.

Moddii is one of the more influential players in the game and his experience as an In-Game Leader does come in handy when it is against the other teams in this tournament. With Friberg and the likes of Acilion on the team, this team represents a lot of talent. However, their map pool is quite limited which does become a big factor when going into this match. They need to find out the right synergy between the best maps and the maps that they think will likely be picked. The team’s chemistry and its presence on the big stage is a matter of concern. They don’t have much LAN playoff experience and we have seen how it can bother the bests players especially in their initial few LANs. Players like Mertz, who are crucial to Heroic’s performance will get an opportunity today against ENCE.

ENCE

ENCE CS:GO Roster:

  • Sergej
  • AleksiB
  • Allu
  • Aerial
  • xSeven

The Finnish roster has shown a resilience not seen in other teams. The team is made up of multiple young players who have a lot of firepower between them. The likes of Sergej, AleksiB have come up in the professional scene via the long route of FPL and a lot of grinding. As such, they know the value of their position here. This team promises a lot and for the most part, they deliver on their promises. The strength of the team lies is a different style of play, which can be attributed to AleksiB, the In-Game Leader of ENCE esports.

The 21-year-old has played on several teams such as Skitlite, ENCORE, HAVU before joining ENCE in this roster. Along with the veteran Allu, AleksiB gains a lot of knowledge and experience when it comes to playing internationally. However, it is his unique approach to the game and the way he manages the players at his disposal which make ENCE a very difficult team to read. However, for ENCE, they do seem like they have a set plan going into the round. The level of execution and synergy between players as they run down the set plan is truly astonishing for a new team.

However, it is not a very rigid system as we have seen Allu take unnecessarily aggressive risks with the AWP. For the most part, it works wonders for ENCE since Allu is a very capable AWP Player. His ability to take a frag and fall back without any consequences ensure that ENCE gains the advantage very early on in the round. However, it can backfire if Allu falls into a pattern and other teams are able to read him. For now, it works and there is no reason for him to change his playstyle.

25-year-old Jani “Aerial” Jussila is a very silent and often inconspicuous player. The young rifler has had high impact kills often opening the round for the team. Especially on the T Side, Aerial is a big force to reckon with. His first shot aim is one of the best in Europe and that makes him a deadly force with the AK47 where a single bullet can result in a kill if it’s on the head.

Overall, ENCE is a well-rounded team, one that can provide us with a lot of exciting plays. The young nature of the team means that they only have a lot to gain and learn from these matches. However, knowing ENCE and seeing how well they can perform [ they won Starseries & I-league Season 6] we think ENCE has a real shot at this match.

Prediction:

The Finnish roster has a unique style of play which can set off Heroic when it comes to certain maps. AleksiB has proven himself to be an able leader, one who is not afraid to take risky decisions when it comes to certain matches. At the same time, Allu adds a unique flavor to the team’s performance. Together they form a formidable duo, capable of taking their own decisions but it often turns out to be the right one.

On the other hand we have Heroic, a team with limited LAN presence on the big stage. However, there is no doubt about the experience and the nerves on this team. With the likes of Friberg, Moddii and Aciilion, they can guide the youngster Mertz and help him develop his individual playstyle.

We recommend a bet on ENCE because they seem to be much more structured and AleksiB presents a very unique style of leadership.

  • 7th-8th Place: $2000

LDLC

LDLC Roster:

  • To1nou
  • Alex
  • Logan
  • Amanek
  • Devoduvek

The LDLC roster is plagued with a perennial problem. Their players cannot advance in the French scene mainly cause of the friendship and the closely knit community at the top of the scene. The experienced and veteran French players are usually loathed to change and it is evident in their poor results. However, LDLC has slowly been nurturing a generation of new and upcoming players who can be crucial to putting France back on the world map in Counter-Strike Global Offensive.

Over the past few months, we have seen multiple players from LDLC move onto the better French teams. However, LDLC still remains within reach of the top teams in France. With the likes of Amanek, Devoduvek and To1nou, this team has a lot of firepowers. They have an increased focus on their tactics and have a strategic point of view when it comes to their playstyle. In addition to strategy, LDLC also has a great focus on their firepower and their individual level has never disappointed fans and themselves.

The team remains inconsistent, however, and that comes due to the dip in individual player performances. With time, we expect the players to put together much better performances over the years. However, for now, LDLC remains an excellent team with conditions attached. The team needs to find consistency in its performance which will help boost its standings in the CS: GO Community.

Heroic

Heroic Roster:

  • Moddii
  • E3tag
  • Friberg
  • Mertz
  • Aciilion

Heroic is a Danish team comprising of multiple well-known Danish veterans. The likes of Moddii, Friberg, e3tag, Aciilion and Mertz are a formidable lot when it comes to Counter-Strike. They have all played in the best teams in the world at one point in time. However, as we see them right now, this team has a lot of potentials to make it big in CS: GO.

Heroic is exceptionally good on standard maps like Mirage, Inferno and Nuke. Nuke is a staple for the team. Being a Danish roster it would be surprising if the team did not manage to win Nuke comfortably, especially against LDLC. With Friberg on this roster, the focus of the team remains on their synergy and coordination. He is a person who believes in enhancing team chemistry. He did the same on NIP for many years before his departure. His focus on helping the team and the ultimate goal of the win is unparalleled in CS: GO.

They also have the mastermind in Moddii. He can help the team to develop its persona and strategical approach. With their limited map pool, Heroic rely heavily on Moddii to guide them through their matches. They don’t lack firepower, especially with players like Mertz showing up in a big way. Mertz’ performance has been spectacular recently with some really amazing individual plays by the Danish youngster.

Prediction:

Both the teams have experienced players on their roster. They have been together for quite some time and their synergy is bound to be the X-factor coming into this match. With Heroic, we are seeing a mixture of Danish and Swedish players. These players have a lot of experience under their belt. Their focus on strategy, however, requires Mertz to put up splendid performances.

On the other hand, we have LDLC which is full of young players. These players can put up splendid performances. However, they are very inconsistent which makes it extremely difficult to place your trust on this team.

For now, we recommend a bet on Heroic due to their stability and their focus on strategy. Nuke being a staple map for the team enables them to direct how the veto will proceed further.
