The Blast Pro Series is the first of the four new esports events announced by RFRSH Entertainment. It is also the last Blast Pro Series for 2018. The tournament will take place at the Altice Arena in Lisbon. It will feature a prize pool of $250,000 and have six of the world’s best teams in attendance. The tournament Group stage will see Best of One matches. The maps for these matches are already pre-decided and we will see the teams preparing for days in advance for the event.

Each of the six teams received an invitation to the tournament. They will compete in a round-robin stage but with the maps chosen, there can be a little bit of bias in the Group stage results. The attendees at this event are :

  1. Astralis
  2. Natus Vincere
  3. Ninjas in Pyjamas
  4. MiBr
  5. Cloud9

Astralis

Astralis Roster:

  • Glaive
  • Device
  • Dupreeh
  • Xyp9X
  • MagisK

They are the best team in the world and not without reason. After all, Astralis’ dominance has been the talk of the town for much of the past year. Astralis has found excellent synergy with each other and this is what makes them one of the most feared teams in Counter-Strike today. The Danish roster has great mid-round calls by Glaive, their In-Game Leader. His addition to the in-game Leader role following Kjaerbye’s move to North only helped Astralis as they formed the perfect synergy amongst themselves. However, apart from the players, it is the player’s synergy with the coach Zonic which sets him apart from the rest of the competition. He is able to perfectly execute Zonic’s vision of the team’s progress.

gla1ve & Astralis prevented Liquid from a strong day 1 (Credit: Redbull)

The Astralis roster is made up of Zonic as one of the best coaches to coach a CS: GO team. His ideas about the game and how Astralis should prepare to stay on the top have helped the Danish team to reach their current position. After all, the Astralis roster has made it to the top and stayed there for so long. Zonic’s influence on the team is one of the biggest reasons for this. He has helped the team stay on top and despite their recent lack of form, they still look as strong as ever.

For this match, we hope to see Device and Dupreeh pull out their best selves. They have a tendency to not perform to their best ability against NIP. Hopefully, after years of remaining on the top, they can overcome this mental block.

Ninjas in Pyjamas

NIP roster:

  • Rez
  • Get_Right
  • F0rest
  • Lekr0
  • Dennis

The Ninjas come into this match as a potential upset against Astralis. The fact that they are playing Astralis on Mirage is something that shuold raise hopes for nIP Fans. The team has managed to defeat Astralis on this map previously. While NIP does have their own issues to sort out, on their best day they can defeat Astralis.

So far in the tournament, NIP has not shown us a good performance. They failed against Na’Vi, but it was a close match. Their match against MiBr was really sad to watch. NIP had no impact on that map of Mirage. They were constantly playing from behind and losing key aim-duels.

There are multiple factors working for the Ninjas, however, one of the most important factors is the return to form for Get_Right. The star player on the team since its inception in CS: GO, Get_Right is instrumental to NIP’s success and their progress as a team. His firepower and the amount of respect he garners from other teams ensures that his impact on the game is much more than just his position on the scoreboard. In addition to this, his never tiring practice regimen can only serve as an inspiration to the others in the team. Get_Right is not the most naturally skilled player in the world. But he has never let this stop him from trying his best to be useful in the team.

Apart from Get_Right its Lekro who has made a huge impact on this team. The young player has carved the team to make it one of the most strategic team under the coaching of Pita. Lekro’s performance in the team is not limited just to the in-game leadership. The player is also the player who usually tops the scoreboard for the team. For one single player to take on so much responsibility is usually a big task. It is untenable many would say, but Lekro has proved his detractors wrong so far.

In order for NIP to start putting up big numbers, they need Get_Right to put up the big numbers. The player is a key component of the NIP Firepower and his performance has a direct impact on NIP’s results.

Prediction:

Astralis has looked extremely confident in their setup. Their dominance in yesterday’s matches against Faze Clan and Na’Vi possibly sums up the entire tournament. The Danish squad is on a roll right now and the high victory margins demonstrate their prowess. For Astralis, this tournament is just another stop en route to their possible victory at the IEM Katowice 2019. Now for many players, beating Astralis is the ultimate goal. For NIP, it is something that they pride themselves on. Since the beginning of CS: GO, NIP always has had an upper hand against Astralis. For many years, they were on a level playing field and the advantage in the mental stage provided a boost for NIP.

However, right now, Astralis is miles ahead of NIP in individual performance as well as he entire team synergy. So despite NIP having a small advantage against Astralis, it is a big question whether they will be able to make anything out of it. For us, Astralis seems to be in a great momentum in order to take home this map. We recommend a bet on Astralis for this match.

Natus Vincere

Natus Vincere Roster:

  • Edward
  • S1mple
  • Electronic
  • Zeus
  • Flamie

The CIS team Natus Vincere has not shown much in terms of improvement. They recently participated in the ESL Pro League Season 8 LAN Finals. They lost 0-2 to Team Liquid in the Quarterfinals. Considering how Team Liquid has repeatedly and consistently shown itself to be a very strong North American CS: GO contender, this result is not entirely bad. However, for the potential of this team, their result s are barely even a fraction.

Natus Vincere has two of the world’s best Aimers on their roster. The likes of S1mple and Electronic definitely add so much value to the team. The sheer talent on this team often covers the mistakes and the extra risk that they end up taking with their force-buys. The Na’Vi Squad is a legendary name, but they need to start consistently posing a challenge to the Astralis domination.

Flamie is a crucial player on this team. When he has a good game, there is little to stop Na’Vi from dominating their opponents. It is in these kinds of matches that we get a glimpse of the true potential of this roster. However, for the most part, Flamie has not had a good string of results. He needs to improve his individual performance if they are to have a legitimate chance of winning against their opponents. For now, the team remains a potentially good team, but the team definitely needs much better performances if they are to be considered a noteworthy team.

For Na’Vi to potentially become a very good team there are two alternatives. One would be if the whole team starts becoming extremely consistent in their performance. The other would be erratic but high skilled performances by the two young players. S1mple has always been the most consistent performer on this team, but he has a tough task ahead of him.

Ninjas in Pyjamas

NIP Roster:

  • Get_Right
  • Lekr0
  • F0rest
  • Rez
  • Dennis

The Ninjas in Pyjamas team has a new look, and have been looking quite strong of late. The Swedish roster does have their star players such as Get_RIght and F0rest on the team. However, it is the new influx of young players like Rez and Lekr0 which has made this team stronger than before.

The team has a great synergy and as long as Get_Right can make his role on the team impactful. The team’s performance relies on a few pillars in the roster. For now, NIP is extremely well organised and progressive. Whether they can take down Na’Vi, it really depends on which Na’Vi turns up for this particular match.

Prediction

The Natus Vincere roster makes huge inroads in the current Counter-Strike scene with their performance. However, most of their performance stems from their ability to hit their shots and the high skill ceiling of the team. S1mple and Electronic have regularly put up big numbers on the team. However, there are others on the team who regularly seem to be underperforming and dragging the results of the team down.

On the other hand is Ninjas in Pyjamas, the team can surprise Natus Vincere in this match. The true test for Natus Vincere obviously relies on how they turn up for this match. If we see both S1mple and Electronic turn-up and play well, NIP should not have a realistic chance of making it past Na’Vi.

There is one more factor that will affect the outcome of this match. The map is pre-decided and it will be Overpass. NIP is fairly good on Overpass and has actually preferred playing on this map. Ofcourse Na’Vi is no slouches themselves, but when it comes to Overpass and considering how bad Na’Vi is right now, this match might not be as easy as it seems. We therefore have to recommend a low bet on NIP for this match.

The Ninjas in Pyjamas

NIP roster

  • Lekro
  • Get_right
  • F0rest
  • Dennis
  • Rez

The Ninjas in Pyjamas are one of the most well-known teams in Counter-Strike. While their previous iteration saw lots of failures, the current version looks ready and up to the task of playing against the best teams in the world. With Lekro on the team, we have seen NIP put up some really interesting strategies. They were able to make skilful plays on their own and on their maps. The NIP roster makes sure that it does not play from the backfoot and is always taking the fight to the opponent. With Get_Right’s resurgence in form, we can definitely see NIP put up some big numbers.

Get_Right [ and F0rest ] are the core on this team. Their individual performance dictates the direction of the team. A few months ago, we all saw Get_Right taking insane practice hours and spending a lot of time in improving his game. The results are clearly evident as NIP is no longer the walkover team that it used to be. Get_Right is feeling confident with his aim once more. This is encouraging to NIP fans and for the team, this means that they can be much more flexible and free around the map. As long a Get_Right stays alive, there is always the threat to the opponent team. As such, they can’t just leave one site, simply because there is a lesser number of NIP players over there.

Meanwhile, Dennis is also finding his ability to get amazing kills on the pistol round once more. The player who was known for his pistol aces is one of the best when it comes to the business. The Ninjas in Pyjamas newfound skill does not come from luck but via hard work and constant perseverance. Lekro is a rare in-game Leader who is always on top of the scoreboard despite leading the team. Leading a team is always a difficult task and Lekro does both the jobs marvellously.

Astralis

Astralis Roster:

  • Device
  • Dupreeh
  • Glaive
  • Magisk
  • Xyp9x

Astralis is the world’s best team and it is not without reason. The Danish squad checks its own footprints and point out their own mistakes. They try to understand how their opponents will try to upset their throne. They position themselves and work accordingly to eliminate their mistakes. This has worked wonders for them and they won the FaceiT London Major, the Blast Pro series as well as the IEM Chicago tournament.

Astralis quickly picked up where they left off with Magisk (credit: StarLadder)

Device is the MVP on this team and he has been the most consistent player in Counter-Strike for multiple years now. He is always ready to learn from his mistakes and he understands when he is outclassed by the opposing AWP player. Device learns from his teammates and their callouts. He is always on the move and he can surprise his opponents.

In addition to Device, Dupreeh is also the player who has been consistent on the team. The player might not always top the charts, but he gets the important frags. The impact frags are instrumental in enabling the team with the early advantage. And if there is one team that knows how to play when ahead, it is Astralis. The team is always on the lookout on how to secure their advantage and ensure that their opponents are not able to take advantage of any lapse in judgement.

Prediction :

Despite the two teams’ rich history, there is also another mechanic in the rivalry. For long, the Ninjas in Pyjamas has always held themselves as the better team when it comes to their matches against Astralis. This particularly caused TSM [ prior name of the Astralis core] would always choke against NIP in the big tournaments. They were always losing to the Ninjas in important matches.

NIP comes into this match with the upper hand when it comes to their mentality. They have the capability of winning the match with relative ease. Hence we recommend a bet on Ninjas in Pyjamas for this match.

The FaceIT Major is currently underway with 16 of the top teams in attendance at the New legends stage. Eight of these teams are from the previous major, having secured their Legends status at that Major. The remaining eight fought their way through the New Challengers stage and ensured their place in the top 16. But in order to be truly immortalised in Counter-Strike, the teams need to ensure a place in the New Champions stage. They need to have a good performance in this Major in order to secure the Legends status for themselves.

The FaceIT Major Legends Stage will be held at the Twickenham stadium, the same venue as The New Challengers stage. This stage uses the Swiss format with each team having to win 3 matches in order to proceed to the next stage. At the same time, each team with 3 losses is out of the tournament.

We hope FaceIT has fixed the various PC issues that have plagued the CS:GO teams during the Challengers stage. Valve recently released a hotfix for the ‘footsteps audio’ issue where players would not be able to hear footsteps close to them.

Format

The New Legends Stage: September 12th – 16th, 2018

  • 16 Team Swiss System Format
  • Round 1 to 4 matches are Bo1
  • Round 5 matches are Bo3
  • The Buchholz system is used to seed matches from Rounds 3 to 5
  • Top 8 Teams proceed to The New Champions Stage
  • Bottom 8 Teams are eliminated

Ninjas in Pyjamas

NIP Roster:

  • F0rest
  • Get_Right
  • Rez
  • Dennis
  • Lekro

The Ninjas in Pyjamas is one of the most iconic Swedish teams in Counter-Strike. Their dominance in the early days of Counter-Strike earned them a lot of fans for their troubles. Over the course of the next few years, however, NIP saw their performance decline severely. For the longest time, the organisation did not want to change the roster. But it only resulted in the team having poorer performance.

Get_Right is a player with a very strong work ethic

Right now NIP has added Dennis and Lekro to the team. The two bring forth a steady mixture of great in Game Leading and excellent talent. Dennis is a player who is extremely comfortable with the rest of the veterans on the roster. He has great synergy with Get_Right and F0rest. On an individual level, Dennis has shown amazing aim so far at the London FaceIT Major. He has been tapping heads left and right. Often times, Dennis is the reason for NIP to gain entry onto a bomb site. The performance of the team is definitely heavily dependent on how good a game Dennis has in their matches. He remains a cheerful guy for the team constantly lifting up their spirits.

Dennis has been really strong at the FaceIT London Major so far

The other ‘new player’ on this team, Jonas ‘Lekro’ Olofsson has taken up the mantle of In-Game Leading. This is the first time that Lekro will is leading a team. Its something that players are often compelled to do and Lekro has already proven himself to be a decent In Game leader so far. One of the biggest advantages of Lekro is the fact that he is consistently performing well despite being an In-Game Leader. The team’s performance, especially in the New Challengers stage was led by great individual performances by Lekro and Dennis. It is interesting to understand that NIP’s performance can vary depending on these two players. Get_Right and F0rest are doing just about decent at the London Major.

The Ninjas in Pyjamas qualified to the Legends stage after a gap of almost 2 years. This was unprecedented and their return to the Legends stage definitely makes for exciting times for their fans. Today we will see NIP in action against MiBr, another former Major winner.

Made in Brazil

MiBr Roster:

  • Stewie2k
  • Tarik
  • Fer
  • Coldzera
  • Fallen

The Made in Brazil roster has come into formation post the addition of Stewie2k and Tarik from Cloud9. These two additions were supposed to severely improve the performance of the team allowing them to become great once again. While on an individual level, the team does look very strong; we can’t say the same for their overall performance as a team. They seem to lack team chemistry and have much weaker strategies.

For their match against Astralis, the map was Dust2. It is a fairly even map with any team having the possibility to win it. With Ynk’s recent addition to the team, Astralis had a set of maps to view and review the performance of MiBr on Dust 2. This was not a tough task for them as they were able to ultimately crush Mibr 16-0. This is the first 16-0 in CS: GO Major history, and it was against a team with 5 Former Major winners.

Fallen and Coldzera in action

Fallen has shown a lot of aggressive plays during London FaceIT major. His pushes through smokes while calculated often leave Mibr with an advantage. Once a team smokes off a particular area, it is mostly due to the fact that they want to focus on another area. So while it is risky, since you do not know if a team will be watching the smoke; Fallens pushes through smokes have often resulted in multiple kills for the AWPer. Watching Fallen put together such a strong performance is definitely something exciting for MiBr fans. It is reminiscent of the time when Made in Brazil [ then SK Gaming] was one of the best teams in the world. And Fallen with the aggressive AWP was one of the biggest reasons for their success.

Coldzera needs to improve his individual performance if Mibr is to have a decent showing at the Major

Coldzera has seen a significant drop in form from his peak levels. He is still a very good and talented player, but he does not have the same peak levels as before. Coldzera’s performance, however, can only go upwards which means this is good news for the Brazilian roster.

Tarik and Stewie2k are looking decent on this team. Stewie2k is not at the same level as before and that is something to worry about, but Tarik is seeing an improvement in his individual performance. Tarik’s performance at the Major has a lot to show for itself and he has a very sharp mind especially when dissecting the plays of the opponents. In clutch situations, he can take on multiple 1 on 1 fights resulting in a favourable situation for the player.

Will Fallen continue with his hyper-aggressive peeks with the AWP?

Ynk will now be feeling the heat of having to perform well at the major. His first obvious goal is to ensure that the team reaches the New Champions stage. If MIbr is able to reach the New Champions stage, it would be an achievement for the players as well as their coach. They are still very much in their honeymoon period and hence they will be able to work out their differences and put forth a stronger performance in the future. Their 0-16 loss to Astralis definitely rings a few bells and if anything, it will only help Mibr perform better.

Prediction:

Watching MIBr’s 16-0 routing yesterday, many would believe that the team could actually be on a slippery slope. However, the 16-0 was against Astralis, a team that had prepared for Dust 2 specifically against MiBr. As Glaive said in the post-match interview, they felt they knew a lot of things that MiBr was about to do. The high level of preparedness on the Danish side definitely caught Mibr unawares as they were unable to secure a single round. Even in cases where they had a big advantage, Dupreeh or someone else from the Danish side would get multiple kills to put the round back in Astralis’ favour. MiBr does need to get their team chemistry and their synergy back on track if they are to have a chance of defeating the top teams in Counter Strike. Right now, however, they have to face off against NIP in the Day 5 match of the NCounter-Strikeew Legends stage.

The Ninjas in Pyjamas definitely look much strong both in terms of firepower as well as team strategy at the London FaceIT Major. The team’s performance has improved significantly with multiple things going in their favour. With Dennis, Rez and Lekro having a good time in terms of their aim, the experience fo Get_right and F0rest helps the team in tougher situations. But this match is a BO3 match and that is where the teams will face their true test. With a map pool as wide as MIBr’s NIP will face a tough task in the veto stage. It almost feels like NIP has minimal room to manoeuvre in the veto stage, which puts them at a disadvantage. Ofcourse the team can still surprise us [ and MiBr] by some unconventional vetoes. However, it can also backfire terribly.

For now, we recommend a medium bet on MiBr. They have the better map pool and slightly better aim and confidence when it comes to winning their matches against NIP.

Mousesports

Mousesports Roster:

  • ChrisJ
  • Snax
  • Oskar
  • Ropz
  • Sunny

The mousesports roster added Snax to their CS: GO team with the hopes that his addition will drastically improve their results. Prior to the roster change, Mousesports was comfortably securing 5-6 places in premier tournaments. But as we see with their most recent placements, the team has not really improved in their performances.

If anything, the team looked much weaker in their initial days as they were unable to ensure good team chemistry and synergy. The performance of the team has not deteriorated, however, and we see that in the way they have improved in the most recent weeks. The Mousesports roster has some really big talent on their lineup, but we can see how the team will evolve in the weeks to come.

Under the guidance of ChrisJ, the team has been able to adapt to their latest player, Snax. At one point in time, ChrisJ was the star on this roster. His performance over time has adjusted to the needs of the team. The stars on the current Mousesports roster are Ropz, Snax and Oskar.

Oskar is known to have a very unusual behaviour, however, there is no doubt that he is one of the most consistent performers on the Mousesports roster. Oskar remains a reliable player on the team and his performance has not degraded over time. Oskar is not really your flashy kind of player, but he has been very stable on the team.

Ropz is a new young talent on the Mousesports roster. Picked from the FaceIT Pro League, he has already proved himself worthy of playing against the top teams in the scene.

But the big question remains on how fast Snax can put up the big numbers on this roster. Once known for his decisive gameplay, Snax in 2016 was the most fearsome player on the team. He was able to decide where and when to take his duels and accordingly win those duels in order to take a big fight.

Ninjas in Pyjamas

NIP Roster:

  • Get_right
  • F0rest
  • Dennis
  • Rez
  • Lekro

The Ninjas in Pyjamas are one of the most loved CS: GO teams in history. Their early dominance earned them a lot of fans which has stayed with them ever since. The team has been going through some tough times of late. They have been unable to make an inroad into top tournaments. Indeed, they have been having lots of trouble in their matches against lower-tier opponents as well.

The NIP team has made several changes to its roster. The most recent ones include adding Llekro Dennis to their CS: GO, team. While Dennis has played for NIP earlier, Lekro is a totally new addition to the team.

So far, the new NIP looks very good and promising. They have shown us the results at the top level with Lekro and Dennis leading the scoreboard. However, the old guards in F0rest and Get_RIght have not been far behind which is one of the main reasons for the success of this team. The Ninjas in Pyjamas have traditionally been a team that did not rely on tactics as much as their superior firepower. But as we see now, they have a lot of focus on strategies and ensuring the best playing conditions for the players.

This has resulted in NIP often getting the upper hand even against strong individual players on other teams. Their dominance against Astralis just demonstrated how strategy can help the team gain an advantage. They did struggle to close out Mirage against Astralis on multiple occasions,m but they ended up winning in the end. It was one of the longest matches in Majors and that is a testimony to the resilience from the NIP roster.

F0rest and Get_Right need to adjust their playstyle in accordance with the new roster. They do have to get their frags, but they can no longer be the superstars on the team. With Lekro and Dennis taking the lead when it comes to the frags, Get_Right often has to look out for the backlines and ensure that the team is not surprised by a flank.

Dennis has been amazing with his individual aim over the years. His ability to provide consistency on the front lines makes him a reliable bet for the MVP at least on NInjas in Pyjamas. NIP have problems with their map pool though and that is bound to hurt them in this match against Mousesports. Choosing the right map is very important and can often decide the course and speed of the match. For NIP, it is imperative that they get a map that they are comfortable on. They have been bootcamping for several weeks now and we might just see something totally different from the team. It will not be a big surprise, but it is important to see how the team prepares against the top teams.

Prediction

Mousesports, despite their dip in performance, has managed to maintain its position as a Top 6 team in Counter-Strike Global Offensive. They still have the raw talent amongst its players and they are rapidly advancing on their team synergy and coordination. The performance of the team is one which can always pose a challenge to the best teams in the world. And yet, it is a team that is not easily surprised by the new upcoming rosters. They rarely are at the end of an upset which is why they are a very reliable team.

NIP, on the other hand, have only had a few matches against relatively weaker rosters en route to the Legends stage. The NIP roster will need to ensure that they can possibly compete at this level once again. However, for that they will need to punch above their weight in the current form.

We recommend a medium sized bet on Mousesports simply becaue of their confidence coming into this match.
