Each of the six teams received an invitation to the tournament. They will compete in a round-robin stage but with the maps chosen, there can be a little bit of bias in the Group stage results. Natus Vincere

Natus Vincere Roster:

  • Edward
  • S1mple
  • Electronic
  • Zeus
  • Flamie

The CIS team Natus Vincere has not shown much in terms of improvement. They recently participated in the ESL Pro League Season 8 LAN Finals. They lost 0-2 to Team Liquid in the Quarterfinals. Considering how Team Liquid has repeatedly and consistently shown itself to be a very strong North American CS: GO contender, this result is not entirely bad. However, for the potential of this team, their result s are barely even a fraction.

Natus Vincere has two of the world’s best Aimers on their roster. The likes of S1mple and Electronic definitely add so much value to the team. The sheer talent on this team often covers the mistakes and the extra risk that they end up taking with their force-buys. The Na’Vi Squad is a legendary name, but they need to start consistently posing a challenge to the Astralis domination.

Flamie is a crucial player on this team. When he has a good game, there is little to stop Na’Vi from dominating their opponents. It is in these kinds of matches that we get a glimpse of the true potential of this roster. However, for the most part, Flamie has not had a good string of results. He needs to improve his individual performance if they are to have a legitimate chance of winning against their opponents. For now, the team remains a potentially good team, but the team definitely needs much better performances if they are to be considered a noteworthy team.

For Na’Vi to potentially become a very good team there are two alternatives. One would be if the whole team starts becoming extremely consistent in their performance. The other would be erratic but high skilled performances by the two young players. S1mple has always been the most consistent performer on this team, but he has a tough task ahead of him.

Ninjas in Pyjamas

NIP Roster:

  • Get_Right
  • Lekr0
  • F0rest
  • Rez
  • Dennis

The Ninjas in Pyjamas team has a new look, and have been looking quite strong of late. The Swedish roster does have their star players such as Get_RIght and F0rest on the team. However, it is the new influx of young players like Rez and Lekr0 which has made this team stronger than before.

There are multiple factors working for the Ninjas, however, one of the most important factors is the return to form for Get_Right. The star player on the team since its inception in CS: GO, Get_Right is instrumental to NIP’s success and their progress as a team. His firepower and the amount of respect he garners from other teams ensures that his impact on the game is much more than just his position on the scoreboard. In addition to this, his never tiring practice regimen can only serve as an inspiration to the others in the team. Get_Right is not the most naturally skilled player in the world. But he has never let this stop him from trying his best to be useful in the team.

Apart from Get_Right its Lekro who has made a huge impact on this team. The young player has carved the team to make it one of the most strategic team under the coaching of Pita. Lekro’s performance in the team is not limited just to the in-game leadership. The player is also the player who usually tops the scoreboard for the team. For one single player to take on so much responsibility is usually a big task. It is untenable many would say, but Lekro has proved his detractors wrong so far.

The team has a great synergy and as long as Get_Right can make his role on the team impactful. The team’s performance relies on a few pillars in the roster. For now, NIP is extremely well organised and progressive. Whether they can take down Na’Vi, it really depends on which Na’Vi turns up for this particular match.

Prediction

The Natus Vincere roster makes huge inroads in the current Counter-Strike scene with their performance. However, most of their performance stems from their ability to hit their shots and the high skill ceiling of the team. S1mple and Electronic have regularly put up big numbers on the team. However, there are others on the team who regularly seem to be underperforming and dragging the results of the team down.

On the other hand is Ninjas in Pyjamas, the team can surprise Natus Vincere in this match. The true test for Natus Vincere obviously relies on how they turn up for this match. If we see both S1mple and Electronic turn-up and play well, NIP should not have a realistic chance of making it past Na’Vi.

There is one more factor that will affect the outcome of this match. The map is pre-decided and it will be Overpass. NIP is fairly good on Overpass and has actually preferred playing on this map. Ofcourse Na’Vi is no slouches themselves, but when it comes to Overpass and considering how bad Na’Vi is right now, this match might not be as easy as it seems. We therefore have to recommend a low bet on NIP for this match.

Tournament Introduction:

Dreamhack Malmö is the most anticipated event of 2017 apart from the ELEAGUE and PGL Majors. The first “major” tournament to take place after the great continental roster shuffle of 2017, many new look teams will be looking to claim the title and stand out as the winners of the shuffle. Of the 16 teams, 8 have made at least one roster change to their 5 man lineup, which may set a record for the most amount of new rosters at a premier CS:GO tournament. Regardless of whether it was a potential major winner or a leftover team, everyone faced imminent danger of roster changes, but the tide has calmed. Now the big test begins for these new teams as they tread into familiar waters.

Let’s get straight into the betting analysis! Here in this post you will find our betting analysis of each team, our prediction of how the match will go, and the odds and extra information you need to know about each team!

NiP Betting Preview and Analysis

The Ninjas seem to be fresh out of the gate by upsetting FaZe on de_nuke thanks to f0rest’s 1.6 mode. Netting 30 frags for his team, f0rest co. pulled it off on one of NiP’s home maps. They seemingly were able to catch out a FaZe who looked unprepared to face Ninjas in Pyjamas on de_nuke. To be fair, FaZe did lose when it came to vetoing maps against Ninjas in Pyjamas, where they had enough vetos to remove both de_cache and de_train

When REZ joined and THREAT came back to fulfill his duties, you would have expected Ninjas in Pyjamas to reinvent themselves as the strategical NiP (w/ pyth and friberg) that won Dreamhack Malmo 2016 vs. Natus Vincere. Nope, it’s been the REZ show and individual plays that power Ninjas in Pyjamas. There’s also the fact that all of their map wins from ESL Cologne 2017 and their de_nuke map win were home map wins.

That raises worries, as it may show a weakness in NiP’s shallow map pool. There’s also been a multitude of times where strategies didn’t win them the game, but basic executes powered by an individual player playing like a superstar won them games–primarily f0rest and REZ. Not particularly sure, but there is a guarantee that they have been working on their strategic aspect (if you watched the FaZe game on de_nuke).

If they can prove in this bo3 that they can win a map that is not de_nuke or de_cache on LAN, one could argue that their run at their other LANs were not flukes. But, for now, they remain inexperienced when facing maps that don’t conform to their usual playstyle. So far, they’ve won only 1 map that wasn’t the aforementioned two: beating Gambit on the bo3 deciding map of de_train. Albeit, this was very reliant on draken’s AWPing on the final map, as Gambit failed to find a way to flash or blur his AWP’s sight-line. What’s more important is the fact that every NiP member contributed evenly to this map, which shows that THREAT has improved the team playstyle of this squad–a team more known for aiming and dry pushing their way into bombsites.

Natus Vincere Betting Preview and Analysis

Natus Vincere made huge roster changes to their IGL-less roster, bringing back Zeus from Gambit along with his coach and longtime friend, kane. In exchange, GuardiaN was bought out by FaZe. seized, who was originally benched at the time with GuardiaN, was brought back to the roster.

While the explosiveness was lost from GuardiaN, they gained a stronger superstar from s1mple, who would now be the main AWPer, but just as deadly on rifles. And, to be fair, he’s been dominating ever since the roster change. The problem is, Natus Vincere have yet to find a medium ever since the roster change, having a shaky start to ESL Pro League. Zeus himself said that the team was still finding their groove, and that their boot camp was all about finding the right play style to implement to the team.

Of course, this seems to be revolving around s1mple’s playmaking ability, as most of the scorelines online seem to be him top fragging on the team–far from Na`Vi’s second best fragger.

Their match at Dreamhack Malmo was a swift beating on Virtus.Pro. To be fair, this match shouldn’t be held in high regard, as Virtus.Pro got dumpstered out of the tournament by Renegades on de_cache, a map known to be one of Virtus.Pro’s home turf maps.

The same cases could be found on their matches versus Astralis and Renegades–primarily on their T sides. There’s been too much cockiness from the Na`Vi players, and there have been many times where they were caught out in positions they should have been watching. Whether this is because teams have gotten a better read for Zeus play-style or because such defaults have fallen out of favor within the meta, doesn’t mean that Natus Vincere should be having a hard time on T/CT side like this.

Natus Vincere need seized playing a great lurk, flamie and s1mple to combine to be the CIS version of North’s k0nfig and Magisk, and Edward to be consistent as a support player if they want to win. The playstyle should heavily revolve around flamie and s1mple’s entry fragging ability (have Zeus entry first if needed, so s1mple and flamie have a great chance of staying alive and trading). Then, you can have seized back stab for kills and Edward play cleanup if needed. I think once Zeus is able to utilize each player correctly to their strengths, Natus Vincere will become a team to be reckoned with. For now, Dreamhack Malmo will be a crash course for Natus Vincere.
