Introduction

ESL One New York will see the Top eight teams compete to take bragging rights as well as a prize pool of $250,000. The tournament will see several top teams in attendance. It does not have the Major winners, Astralis present and this opens up the potential for other teams to claim silverware.

There are only two teams remaining at this event, Mousesports and XYZ. These two teams are both undefeated till now through the Group stage as well as the playoffs. ESL One New York will see the best of Tier two talent compete at the Barclay’s Center. The New York crowd will obviously want their North American team, Team Liquid to take home the trophy.

Mousesports

Mousesports Roster:

  • ChrisJ
  • Oskar
  • Sunny
  • Ropz
  • Snax

The Mousesports team is made up of players from various nationalities. Over time, the organisation has succeeded in getting together a star quality team. However, the biggest problem for Mousesports has been their ability to coordinate with each other. In a recent interview, Oskar revealed that communication within the team was still a problem.

Mousesports recently acquired Snax to their CS: GO roster. A player like Snax is obviously one of the most well-known and represented players in Counter-Strike. He has led Virtus Pro to be one of the best teams in the world in the past. Through 2016, Snax was able to make Virtus Pro the best team single-handedly. While they did lose out to Astralis at the Eleague Major 2017, Virtus Pro has a huge fan following. But through the last few months, Snax has not proven to be a strong player. His individual performance has seen a significant dip and he does not look as effective as before.

However, with time, the Mousesports roster does seem to be making amends for their poor communication skills. The likes of ChrisJ, Oskar are returning to form and it is evident in the way they play. Mousesports has been able to reach the Grand finals of ESL One New York. This tournament did not have the world’s best teams in attendance, however, there was decent competition.

For Mousesports to remain a top-level competitive team, Oskar’s individual performance is crucial. He is not a player who is easy to get along with in terms of personality, but he has been able to find a comfortable place in Mousesports. However, despite being the most consistent player on Mouz for several months now, he has seen a dip in performance. Oskar will need to step up if Mousesports is to improve not only their results but also their performance.

Overall, Mousesports is a team which has great potential, but they need to improve their individual results. The lack of team cohesion is painfully evident in their playstyle as they do not have much synergy between the players. Each player is exceptionally talented, however, at this level of Counter-Strike relying only on talent will not help the team.

Team Liquid

Team Liquid roster:

  • Nitro
  • Elige
  • NAF
  • Taco
  • Twistzz

The only North American hope, Team Liquid will look forward to establishing their name in this tournament. After reaching the semifinals of the FaceIT London Major, Team Liquid has emerged as a notable opponent to most of the teams. Whether team Liquid can ensure consistent performances with this roster is a question that only time can answer.

As for the team, they have all the necessary components to be successful. With he experience of veterans such as Elige and NAF. But, the team also has amazing individual talent in the form of Twistzz and Taco. The players have been able to put forth excellent performances both at the Major as well as during the ESL One New York.

A Liquified TACO? Sounds gross, but it works! (Credit: Fragbite)

Twistzz, in particular, has been really strong so far at the ESL One New York. His ability to dissect disadvantageous situations and gain an advantage for himself is what makes him a very strong player. He does have amazing individual skill and firepower, but he also has the mind to make it against the best players in the world. Twistzz is the best North American player in CS: GO and that is not without reason. How Team Liquid manages him and use him to his maximum potential is important to the development of his career.

Liquid has a decent map pool, but they need to still improve if they are to compete against the best teams. Team Liquid has seen NAF provide consistent performances which enable the stars on the team.

Prediction:

The two teams are quite diverse in their performances. While Mouz is still trying to find the sweet spot on their roster, Team Liquid seems to have already found it. Their major run was actually quite good and if they had not faced Astralis in the semifinals, it probably would have resulted in a Liquid – Astralis Grand finals.

Regardless, Team Liquid will rely on open maps such as Cache to secure their victory. However, these maps also have an advantage for Mousesports. The Mousesports roster is filled with individual talent, but they need to ensure a better overall performance. We have seen the team look completely in disarray with no idea of what their game plan is. Often time, they would lose 2-3 teammates for a single enemy. The actual outcome of the round could be successful just because of the individual talent on the players. But as a team, they have shown us very little in terms of strategy and communication. The confusion that prevails in their gameplay just does not cut it for the top level of CS: GO.

Team Liquid, on the other hand, look like a well-oiled machine which can proceed to become a force in CS: GO. They have the skill, experience and leadership which are essential to the team’s success in the long run. With Twistzz and TACO definitely providing the necessary frags, Team Liquid looks very strong. As such we have to recommend a bet on Team Liquid for this match.

The FaceIT Major is currently underway with 16 of the top teams in attendance at the New legends stage. Eight of these teams are from the previous major, having secured their Legends status at that Major. The remaining eight fought their way through the New Challengers stage and ensured their place in the top 16. But in order to be truly immortalised in Counter-Strike, the teams need to ensure a place in the New Champions stage. They need to have a good performance in this Major in order to secure the Legends status for themselves.

The FaceIT Major Legends Stage will be held at the Twickenham stadium, the same venue as The New Challengers stage. This stage uses the Swiss format with each team having to win 3 matches in order to proceed to the next stage. At the same time, each team with 3 losses is out of the tournament.

We hope FaceIT has fixed the various PC issues that have plagued the CS:GO teams during the Challengers stage. Valve recently released a hotfix for the ‘footsteps audio’ issue where players would not be able to hear footsteps close to them.

The New Legends Stage: September 12th – 16th, 2018

  • 16 Team Swiss System Format
  • Round 1 to 4 matches are Bo1
  • Round 5 matches are Bo3
  • The Buchholz system is used to seed matches from Rounds 3 to 5

Mousesports

Mousesports Roster:

  • ChrisJ
  • Snax
  • Oskar
  • Ropz
  • Sunny

The mousesports roster added Snax to their CS: GO team with the hopes that his addition will drastically improve their results. Prior to the roster change, Mousesports was comfortably securing 5-6 places in premier tournaments. But as we see with their most recent placements, the team has not really improved in their performances.

Will mousesports be the first team to win 3 international titles in 2018? (Credit: mousesports)

If anything, the team looked much weaker in their initial days as they were unable to ensure good team chemistry and synergy. The performance of the team has not deteriorated, however, and we see that in the way they have improved in the most recent weeks. The Mousesports roster has some really big talent on their lineup, but we can see how the team will evolve in the weeks to come.

Under the guidance of ChrisJ, the team has been able to adapt to their latest player, Snax. At one point in time, ChrisJ was the star on this roster. His performance over time has adjusted to the needs of the team. The stars on the current Mousesports roster are Ropz, Snax and Oskar.

Oskar is known to have a very unusual behaviour, however, there is no doubt that he is one of the most consistent performers on the Mousesports roster. Oskar remains a reliable player on the team and his performance has not degraded over time. Oskar is not really your flashy kind of player, but he has been very stable on the team.

Ropz is a new young talent on the Mousesports roster. Picked from the FaceIT Pro League, he has already proved himself worthy of playing against the top teams in the scene.

But the big question remains on how fast Snax can put up the big numbers on this roster. Once known for his decisive gameplay, Snax in 2016 was the most fearsome player on the team. He was able to decide where and when to take his duels and accordingly win those duels in order to take a big fight.

Ninjas in Pyjamas

NIP Roster:

  • Get_right
  • F0rest
  • Dennis
  • Rez
  • Lekro

The Ninjas in Pyjamas are one of the most loved CS: GO teams in history. Their early dominance earned them a lot of fans which has stayed with them ever since. The team has been going through some tough times of late. They have been unable to make an inroad into top tournaments. Indeed, they have been having lots of trouble in their matches against lower-tier opponents as well.

The NIP team has made several changes to its roster. The most recent ones include adding Llekro Dennis to their CS: GO, team. While Dennis has played for NIP earlier, Lekro is a totally new addition to the team.

So far, the new NIP looks very good and promising. They have shown us the results at the top level with Lekro and Dennis leading the scoreboard. However, the old guards in F0rest and Get_RIght have not been far behind which is one of the main reasons for the success of this team. The Ninjas in Pyjamas have traditionally been a team that did not rely on tactics as much as their superior firepower. But as we see now, they have a lot of focus on strategies and ensuring the best playing conditions for the players.

This has resulted in NIP often getting the upper hand even against strong individual players on other teams. Their dominance against Astralis just demonstrated how strategy can help the team gain an advantage. They did struggle to close out Mirage against Astralis on multiple occasions,m but they ended up winning in the end. It was one of the longest matches in Majors and that is a testimony to the resilience from the NIP roster.

F0rest and Get_Right need to adjust their playstyle in accordance with the new roster. They do have to get their frags, but they can no longer be the superstars on the team. With Lekro and Dennis taking the lead when it comes to the frags, Get_Right often has to look out for the backlines and ensure that the team is not surprised by a flank.

Dennis has been amazing with his individual aim over the years. His ability to provide consistency on the front lines makes him a reliable bet for the MVP at least on NInjas in Pyjamas. NIP have problems with their map pool though and that is bound to hurt them in this match against Mousesports. Choosing the right map is very important and can often decide the course and speed of the match. For NIP, it is imperative that they get a map that they are comfortable on. They have been bootcamping for several weeks now and we might just see something totally different from the team. It will not be a big surprise, but it is important to see how the team prepares against the top teams.

Prediction

Mousesports, despite their dip in performance, has managed to maintain its position as a Top 6 team in Counter-Strike Global Offensive. They still have the raw talent amongst its players and they are rapidly advancing on their team synergy and coordination. The performance of the team is one which can always pose a challenge to the best teams in the world. And yet, it is a team that is not easily surprised by the new upcoming rosters. They rarely are at the end of an upset which is why they are a very reliable team.

NIP, on the other hand, have only had a few matches against relatively weaker rosters en route to the Legends stage. The NIP roster will need to ensure that they can possibly compete at this level once again. However, for that they will need to punch above their weight in the current form.

We recommend a medium sized bet on Mousesports simply becaue of their confidence coming into this match.

Introduction

Dreamhack Masters Stockholm is Dreamhack’s first flagship tournament in Sweden. The event has been a regular in the CSGO calendar year for several years now. The 2018 version is also a part of the Intel Grand Slam Season 1.  Dreamhack Stockholm 2018’s venue is the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm. It has a seating capacity of 16,000 attendees and is primarily an Ice Hockey Venue.

This tournament is the first big event featuring the best teams in Counter-Strike since the player break. It is one of the first steps that the teams need to take en route to the London FaceIT Major. Big names such as Natus Vincere, Astralis, Faze Clan and Mousesports will compete to establish their rankings once more in the global scene. The tournament is already down to just four teams and these teams do not include Faze Clan. THere will be a new team in the finals and we just wait and watch to see if it will be Mousesports or North Gaming.

Dreamhack Masters Stockholm will be a five-day event starting from the 29th of August 2018. It will continue until the 2nd of September 2018. It has a prize pool of $250,000 and will be streamed live on Twitch.

Mousesports

Mousesports Roster:

  • ChrisJ
  • Snax
  • Oskar
  • Ropz
  • SUnny

The mousesports roster recently underwent a change when they added Snax and replaced Styko on the team. The addition of Snax is from a winner’s perspective since they want to ensure wins and deep runs at big tournaments. Prior to this event, Mousesports as a team was not really bad, but they always failed to ensure a good finish. Their inability to finish their matches led to crucial losses at the business end of tournaments.

The roster has come together after years of tinkering and tampering with the lineup. The only consistent feature in all of this is ChrisJ who has retained his position and his leadership skills. Despite being the constant, ChrisJ has always adapted himself to the needs of the team. Mousesports is a very flexible team made up of elements which probably wouldn’t have thrived in other teams.

Case in Point is Oskar, the most consistent player on the Mousepsorts roster. His consistency might make him a suitable candidate for other top teams. But according to rumours, he has a difficult personality to go along with it. Oskar’s involvement in the team is crucial for the success of this roster. He has a very high success rate in the clutch situation as well as 1v1’s. This makes him one of the most valuable players on the team for the most part.

Ropz is a young talent and he found a home on Mousesports. His talent was recognized via FPL and Mouz were quick to sign him on. Guiding and advising him on his way to a top-tier roster, Mousesports has enabled the discovery of a true talent. They have great synergy with the young player and allow him a lot of freedom and flexibility in his playstyle. He also gains considerable experience from the likes of Snax, ChrisJ and Sunny.

The X-factor on this team, at least for Dreamhack Stockholm 2018 will be Snax. The veteran player who has a Major title under his belt along with years of experience recently transferred from Virtus pro to Mouz. This move was a surprise but not really totally unexpected. After all, Virtus Pro was on the decline and they have been losing players left and right. But for most of the last year, Snax has not had the best of form. His inability to dissect clutch situations with as much effectiveness as before makes him lose considerable sheen as a player. But there is no doubt about his personal talent and skill level on this roster. If he can get himself to be a top-tier team once more, Mousesports will truly be scary.

North

North Roster:

  • MSL
  • Aizy
  • Valde
  • Kjaerbye
  • Niko
  • Ave ( Coach)

North Gaming has traditionally been seen as the second bestDanish roster. This has not been without cause since North has traditionally been unable to win matches against Astralis and their players. It has mostly been a mental block for the players when they go up against Astralis.

But they have already managed to defeat Astralis once in this tournament. Their ability to defeatAStralis in a Best of Three series is what makes them a very strong contender for the finals. The North Gaming roster has some very skilled and talented players. The likes of Aizy, CajunB, Kjaerbye provide years of experience of playing at the top level. Each one of these players has played with members from Astralis at the top level.

Kjaerbye’s addition to North was sudden and shocking

MSL has notorious for his great tactics and good mid-round calls. While his personal skill level might be the source of memes, there are few who question his leadership abilities. After all, the player has proven himself repeatedly over the years.

The two big factors on this team who can ensure great coordination and firepower are Niko ( on loan from Heroic) and Kjaerbye ( moved from Astralis.). Kjaerbye who was the IGL for Astralis during his time on that roster has experience with developing new strategies for himself and the team. His experience of being a top level player on a consistent basis is what makes him the most valuable addition to the team. With Niko added to the team, it also provides them with a lot of firepower and skill.

Prediction:

This match will be a very interesting match to watch as both the teams have been moving forth the rankings. They have seen a dip in their performance during the last few months, but the recent changes to their team either in form of roster changes or tactics definitely helped them a lot.

Both the teams have won matches against really strong teams in this tournament itself. Mousesports won their series against Faze Clan despite being demolished in the first map. After all, it is not every day that you see your team winning a series after being down 1-16 in the first map. Their resilience and strength in performance definitely help them as they proceed to this match. Mousesports seems well-coordinated and seems to have great synergy on their team right now. They are obviously focussing on enabling the team to work together before trying to win matches. Luckily for them, it is already working wonders for them as they have reached the semifinals of Dreamhack Masters Stockholm and are en route to the finals as well.

North Gaming’s win over Astralis was definitely a big shock. It might point towards North becoming good or just bad play by Astralis. North has a great combination of firepower along with leadership which enables them to outmanoeuvre skilled rosters. But they will have to face off against a team which has great synergy and coordination. With Snax on the roster, they have the burst in firepower and experience needed at this level as well.

For now, we recommend a bet on North Gaming because of their performance. This series will almost surely go to three maps.

Mousesports

Mousesports Roster:

  • ChrisJ
  • Oskar
  • Ropz
  • Sunny
  • Snax

The Mousesports roster lost 0-2 to MiBr in the Group stage. While the 0-2 loss might not be a huge surprise,  but they were unable to secure even a grand total of 15 rounds in the match. Mousesports does not seem to be as strong as they were just a few months ago.

The biggest reason for their ‘loss of form’ is the roster change. They added Snax to the team with the hopes of ensuring a better performance. They were constantly having deep placements in big tournaments but were simply unable to overcome the strongest teams in Counter-Strike Global Offensive. So they brought in Snax, from Virtus Pro as soon as he was available. The decision as hasty as it seems right now might not have been the best decision. As we can see, Mousesports is not a strong team anymore.

ChrisJ has the knack to bring together different rosters in the past. He takes on different roles for himself if it means that the team gets better. However, as we have seen in the past it takes time for the team to improve performance. With the London Major looming over the heads of top professional teams, it is a risky bet on Mousesports’ supposed improvement in performance.

Oskar and Sunny form the core of this team. Oskar has been a very consistent player in the game. His performance has been very consistent over the past few years. The player apparently has an attitude problem which puts him squarely against playing for the best teams in the world. As we can see how the team improves, Oskar and Sunny’s performance will be under a lot of scrutinies.

But for this team to become strong once more, Snax’s integration into the roster forms an important link. Even in Virtus Pro, Snax was not really doing well in the past year. His performance on the team definitely has to improve in order for the player to become relevant again. In addition to his individual performance, it is also important that he integrates well with the team.

Mousesports can become a strong team. It will not take a long time for them to just flip the switch. However, whether they can actually improve or not is something that no one can answer right now.

Faze Clan

Faze clan roster:

  • Rain
  • Karrigan
  • Niko
  • Guardian
  • Olofmeister

Faze Clan has looked deceptively good so far in this tournament. We have to remember that their performance is despite Olofmeister just coming back from a self-imposed break. The former Fnatic player has been exceptional ever since his comeback into the roster.

Faze Clan are probably the only team in the world who can consistently challenge the like of Astralis. While Na’Vi has put forth some decent performances in the recent months, including three back to back tournaments wins, they seem very inconsistent. Faze Clan is a star-studded team, one that can easily defeat the best team in the world. But Faze Clan has struggled mainly due to lack of time together. The Faze roster comprises of some of the best players in the world. The likes of Guardian, Olofmeister have shown what they are capable of on several previous rosters.

GuardiaN has performed when FaZe needed it most (StarLadder)

Guardian is a player who loves being aggressive in his performance. But his aggressive gameplay is something that comes based off success in his performance. Faze Clan have not had much success in the past few months, mainly because they have been using several different stand-ins to replace Olofmeister.

One of the common factors holding together the team is Karrigan. The player has a lot of experience in holding together a team comprised of superstars. He has moulded several superstars in his Danish past. The biggest problem of an international team is never the skill or the firepower. It is the management of the personnel which often makes or breaks the team. Controlling the egos of top-level players from various teams is a difficult task and there very few In game leaders who can handle this. Karrigan is one such IGL who has proven himself to be up to the task.

Olofmeister will also have to step up and maintain his positioning and performance. Having a player of Olofmeister’s calibre as a lurker definitely helps the team. The opponents cannot simply ignore Olofmeister and he often has insanely good rounds where he can destroy the enemy team single-handedly.

Prediction.

Mousesports still looks very weak right now. The team has a long way to go before they can fully integrate Snax into the team. Right now, they are decent based mostly on individual plays, but as a team, they are seen to be struggling right now.

The team’s performance over the past few months has not been something that can be proud of. On the contrary, Faze Clan has been quite decent despite not having Olofmeister on their roster. We have seen the team become strong and despite not having Olofeister, they have also won some matches.

For now, we recommend a bet on Faze Clan for this match.

Introduction

Dreamhack Marseille 2018 is going to be one of the most interesting events in CS:GO to date. A lot of top teams have been shaken up by roster changes (primarily FaZe Clan and SK Gaming), and a lot of roster turmoil for other teams (Natus Vincere) makes the favorites for this event quite unclear. Without a top team like FaZe Clan or SK Gaming to dominate the soil, anyone can claim the championship with their own. The recent roster additions have yet to be tested on LAN, so it is unclear if online results could set a concrete precedent to each team’s level coming into this LAN.

While mousesports and Astralis can be considered the clear favorites for this tournament, primarily due to recent results and that both teams have yet to change their roster. Both teams have played consistently and for the better, with Astralis being able to get out of their slump with the addition of Magisk and mousesports having won V4 Future Esports Festival over Virtus.Pro. Apart from that, there’s also fnatic, but their online results have been mixed since winning WESG and IEM Katowice; part of this may be due to roster turmoil over Golden’s status within the team.

Boasting a $250,000 prize pool, Marseille also has an untested competitor from Asia, with TyLoo coming to prove themselves with a potent AWPer in xcurrate leading the squad. With their upset potential from StarSeries along with rivals Renegades, anything could happen at Marseille. In a time where dominance is uncertain, Marseille might just turn out to be an exciting event with these new rosters in the field.

Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas (powered by EsportsBet)

  • Sweden GeT_RiGhT
  • Sweden REZ
  • Sweden draken
  • Sweden f0rest
  • Sweden dennis
  • Sweden pita (coach)

Two of the 2012 Ninjas in Pyjamas core is left: the legendary duo of GeT_RiGhT and f0rest. Having swapped Xizt for dennis after an abysmal cs_summit 2 run, Ninjas in Pyjamas went on to the playoffs of IEM Katowice, eventually losing to Team Liquid in a best of three. One could say that their results have slightly improved, as the Ninjas in Pyjamas have secured their spot in the ESL Pro League Finals in Dallas; ECS has been different for them, as they’re currently in the middle of the pack with a slim chance to make the finals.

Having removed Xizt should be seen as a huge improvement for Ninjas in Pyjamas. An IGL with inconsistent individual performances and team results overall, it was time for NiP to throw a spanner of the works and shake up their lineup. With the addition of dennis, not only does the team bring a refreshed structure with new coach pita, dennis himself is a pivotal player that can single-handily win rounds with his pistol play. fnatic’s dominant run with dennis on the roster was contributed to by his high kill rate on pistol rounds, which helped fnatic on the majority of their dominating games and comebacks.

Over time, with the additions of REZ and draken beforehand, we’ve seen a shift in roles for the old guards too. GeT_RiGhT has moved on towards a traditional supportive role, whereas f0rest has been shown to play anchor and entry fragger when needed. On the other hand, most of the star roles have been handed upon the youngsters of REZ and draken, both of whom have shown signs of individual brilliance—especially draken—at major events in the past. On T side, expect the Ninjas to play slowly and wait for REZ/draken to get a pick, then playoff the man advantage and enemy information.

The Ninjas are best when teams give openings or try to exploit them with aggression, to which the Ninjas counter easily. On the CT side, REZ and draken generally play anchor roles, with both of them being part of the NiP double AWP setup whenever utilized. On the other hand, GeT_RiGhT and f0rest play anchor roles on sites, with dennis usually opting to play rotational spots such as arch on de_inferno.

Albeit, their opening match against SK Gaming was very shaky, with the Brazilians capitalizing on the Ninjas’ mistakes and making a mini-comeback on SK Gaming’s CT side. Luckily, thanks to some even more costlier mistakes from the Brazilians, the Ninjas capitalized on SK’s weak economy and strung together some rounds. If Ninjas in Pyjamas can’t find a way to single handedly dominate a game without having to rely on a star performance from draken, they might be in trouble against an all-out slug-fest mousesports.

Ninjas in Pyjamas’ trademark maps so far have been de_cache and de_train. Surprisingly enough, their form has deteriorated from their trademark map, de_nuke, as shown by recent losses to North and LDLC in the ESL Pro League. Yet, de_cache has also been an ace in the sleeve, which might be pulled out, should their opponents be unwise.

Europe mousesports (powered by EsportsBet)

  • Netherlands chrisJ
  • Czech Republic oskar
  • Estonia ropz
  • Finland suNny
  • Slovakia STYKO
  • Ukraine lmbt (coach)

mousesports, in terms of recent form and achievements, are actually the team that should be the favorites to win Dreamhack Marseille. In 2018 alone, they are one of the two teams (along with fnatic to have won more than one international event on a tier 1 scale (V4 Future Esports Festival and StarLadder i-Series) and have yet to make a roster change to their current lineup since then. Consistently, they have proven time and time again to be a deadly roster to this date.

When you think about stars on this team, it’s usually oskar that is considered to be the hard carry. But, anyone on this team can pop off, and even chrisJ has proved to do it on his specialty map, de_mirage. ropz is the cool headed clutch player, suNny can be a mad dash fragger and pop off absurdly on crunch-time maps, and STYKO is that support rifler who can support and frag on a consistent basis. Overall, the team relies on unusual setups and aggression, as seen from their aggressive pushes on de_mirage mid and their forward A hold against Valiance in their opener.

The opener was a bit of a shocker, as Valiance almost pulled it back from a 13-2 deficit (flashbacks to QBF if you’re a mouz fan) to defeat mousesports. Luckily, mousesports won 16-13, but it was a match that was way too close for comfort. Albeit, mousesports were in control for most of the game, but it is clear that nerves and cockiness did get in their hands throughout the match.

On their map pool, mousesports are the strongest when it comes to de_mirage or de_inferno, whereas they handle themselves considerably on the rest. de_mirage has been their staple map for a long time, but mousesports have been known to play all 7 maps in the current pool with general consistency.

Arguably, esports betting odds will have them as the favorites for this match, and don’t be surprised to see esports sites and percentages in favor of them. mousesports are arguably the strongest team coming into Marseille, and their esports results and form recently have to show for it.
