Starseries & I-League will see several really good teams in attendance. These teams have shown us their skill ceiling during the previous few tournaments. It will be interesting to see them match up against each other, especially in the absence of Top tier teams like Faze Clan, Astralis and Na’Vi.

This tournament features a prize pool of $300,000 and had sixteen teams in attendance. The initial Group stage of the tournament was a BO1 Swiss format style with even the Round 5 matches being Best of One matches. We already have the top eight teams qualified to the Playoffs. The Playoff bracket matches will be Best of Three matches and single elimination format.

StarSeries & I-League Season 6 will be held at the Kiev Cybersport Arena. The 1500 Sq metres venue has been a staple in Esports events and has a lot of experience when it comes to hosting esports events. The remaining teams at the event present a mixture of several new rosters as well as well-established teams. The playoff brackets are already out and we have a couple of amazing matchups coming up in the next few days.

Vega Squadron

Vega Squadron Roster:

  • Chopper
  • JR
  • Hutji
  • TonyBlack
  • Crush

Vega Squadron has come forth as the strongest CIS squad at this tournament. Their route to the playoffs saw them compete against other CIS rosters as well. They were able to take them down with ease and without any sort of hiccups. The Vega Squadron team has been together for quite some time. The CIS roster has been able to make deep runs at various tournaments, but they don’t really have the necessary consistency at the top level to make this performance.

Chopper has been fantastic in his Quarterfinal matchup. The player is a very skilled player but often takes a beating when it comes to his positioning. The player has a good spatial sense of his individual performance however when it comes to the grand scheme of things, he is not often in the best of position. Irrespective of this, Chopper is always a factor when it comes to any Vega Squadron match. His individual performance has helped the Vega Squadron team make deep forays in their most recent matches. They have been able to take advantage of the first picks created by him and ensure an economy advantage later in the game.

JR has helped the team develop into its current form and that is largely responsible for shutting down opponents on their CT side. His positioning with the AWP is really good and he can shut down entire sections of the map with just his presence. The performance of the team remains extremely strong as long as JR maintains his consistency. From a macro perspective, JR might not have a deep strat-book; however, he always has an understanding of what is best for his team and what works for the players. His understanding of his players gives JR the right amount of ammunition to make take on other teams.

TonyBlack is another player who had emerged from the CIS scene recently. He has been able to make surprising plays and is reminiscent of some Fallen like plays TonyBlack has really strong performances intermittently and forms a crucial part of the team.

Vega Squadron is a very well rounded team and just like other CIS rosters, Vega Squadron has periods of excellence. Right now at Starseries, it does seem like they are having a good form.

NRG Esports

NRG esports roster:

  • Fugly
  • Daps
  • Brehze
  • Cerq
  • NahtE

The North American roster has been making waves with their performances in recent times. They were first noticed during IEM Sydney on the International stage. However, this was prefaced by months of good performances in the North American scene.

The team has brought on Cerq to their roster, and while he is a very good player it is not this player who has been making the moves for NRG. On the other hand, we are witnessing players like Fugly and NahtE bring out really strong performances on their rifles. NahtE has been really strong with the rifle and his positioning allows him to take multiple frags and cripple the opponents economy. NahtE’s performance in this tournament has helped offset the lacklustre showing by Cerq. Despite being the star performer on this roster, Cerq seems to have a problem with consistent results and showing. We remember his great shots and insane plays, but being consistent is often more important than splashes of brilliance.

The whole team comes together due to Daps and his leadership qualities. He has been able to maintain composure while still being able to read his opponents and force them to play at his pace. NRG esports has been very comfortable in their game so far at Starseries, this is primarily because their opponents seem to be comfortable in playing their game.

We don’t see their opponents try something new which will force NRG to put forth a new approach to their game. Fugly and Daps present the ‘veteran\ aspect of this roster and we can see them constantly talking and evaluating their options. NG is still a very young roster and they have miles to go before they can truly be considered to be a top tier team. Right now, NRG has the firepower and the leadership to proceed further. A win at Starseries would go miles in enabling the NRG roster to become stronger and better with whatever resources they have.

The NRG roster has a lot of potentials but has failed to always convert it into results. They have had periodic bursts of performances, mostly helped by Cerq carrying the team. However, as an individual player, he needs to start becoming more consistent in his performance, even if it comes at the cost of not seeing godlike performances again.

Prediction:

NRG might have impressed a few with their performances at Starseries & I-League. However, the team definitely needs to ensure better and more consistent performances if they are to be taken seriously. Add to this the fact that they do not have their star performing on point at this tournament, so their potential for a deep finish at the tournament looks unlikely. Right now it is NahtE who is making strong forays deep into the enemy. NRG also has a proclivity for strategic maps like Train and Inferno. While this is great, their map pool falls squarely opposite that of Vega Squadron.

The Vega squad has a lot of experience together with each other. Each of these players has been on some of the best Tier 2 rosters and has intermittently risen to the top. They might not always be the best team in the CIS region, however, they do have their periods of excellence. Right now, it does seem like Vega is having multiple members in good form.

We recommend a bet on Vega Squadron for this match.

Vega Squadron vs Fragsters

Vega Squadron

Vega Squadron Roster:

  • Chopper
  • Hutji
  • JR
  • Crush
  • TonyBlack

Vega Squadron is a surprise entry in the Starseries & I-League Season 6 playoffs. The CIS team has had a few good games and even their loss to NRG was an overtime 17-19 loss. The CIS team is not the most consistent rosters in Counter-Strike. Their performance at the FaceIT London Major saw them bowing out in the Group Stage securing a 12-14th place finish.

The team has several well-known players from the CIS region who have been playing together for several years. They have not been always under the Vega Squadron roster all along. The team’s Unique Selling point remains their synergy and coordination. Years of playing together either in one team or against one another have cultivated a very unified roster. The likes of JR, Hutji have been together for several years.

TonyBlack is the latest addition to the team and we see him performing well on this roster. The 25-year-old is a late addition to the team having just joined the roster a few months back. He has played on several rosters prior to his time on Vega Squadron, most notably on Forze. He is really good with the rifle and is able to put forth strong performances for the team. He is constantly pushing in other parts of the map gaining information of the opponents’ whereabouts. Even in cases where he has contact with the enemy, he is often able to take down multiple opponents before going down. This gives a huge advantage to his team in the early part of the round.

jR has been exceptional in his leadership on this team. He is able to have a great presence on the map and has a decent read of the opponents. It is his mid-round calls on the T side, however, which make him a strong In Game Leader. The player has amazing firepower as well which is what makes his leadership unique in the CIS region. It is rare for CS: GO In Game Leaders to have In-Game Leaders with a strong presence on the scoreboard.

The Vega Squadron roster is not really the best when it comes to synergy, firepower. They have had a good run at the StarSeries & I-League Season 6. However, they are up against North Gaming, one of the stronger teams at the tournament.

Fragsters

Fragsters Roster:

  • StavN
  • DragoNfly
  • torben
  • Bubski
  • Refrezh

Fragsters is made up of several Danish players who are pretty new to the top scene in Counter-Strike. These players have just come onto the top level of the Counter-Strike scene. Fragsters has had semifinal finishes in several of their local tournaments such as Dreamhack Open Austin 2018 and Dreamhack Open Valencia 2018.

What is interesting for this team is their ability to stick together and have a very diverse map pool. In this tournament alone, we have seen them on three to four maps and yet pull out a strong performance on all the maps.

Fragsters has three core members since 2016 and it is only recently after two new members joined the team that we are witnessing better performances. The addition of Bubzki and Refrezh has definitely seen a boost in their performances.

The team has a very unique playstyle which surprises their opponents on a regular basis. The team is not a very tactics dependent team, but they are able to win their individual duels which gives them a huge positional and player advantage. At the same time, they do not rely heavily on force buys which allows them to have a strong economy for subsequent rounds.

Prediction:

Both the teams are not regular features in big tournaments. They don’t have the experience of playing on LAN and that can be a huge factor coming into this tournament. Players often underperform when playing on the big stage in front of live viewers. It is an experience that comes with time and repeated exposure.

Vega Squadron is a team with a lot of veterans from the CIS region. The likes of JR, Hutji have been together for quite some time although not always under the same banner. Their opponents, Fragsters do not have the same level of experience of playting on the big stage. For this team, the fact that they have reached the playoffs is big news. While they will still obviously try to win the series and move on to the semifinals, it is already a successful tournament for Fragsters.

We recommend a bet on Vega Squadron for this match. They are the stronger team and have excellent synergy and coordination with each other.

Introduction

Dreamhack Marseille 2018 is going to be one of the most interesting events in CS:GO to date. A lot of top teams have been shaken up by roster changes (primarily FaZe Clan and SK Gaming), and a lot of roster turmoil for other teams (Natus Vincere) makes the favorites for this event quite unclear. Without a top team like FaZe Clan or SK Gaming to dominate the soil, anyone can claim the championship with their own. The recent roster additions have yet to be tested on LAN, so it is unclear if online results could set a concrete precedent to each team’s level coming into this LAN.

While mousesports and Astralis can be considered the clear favorites for this tournament, primarily due to recent results and that both teams have yet to change their roster. Both teams have played consistently and for the better, with Astralis being able to get out of their slump with the addition of Magisk and mousesports having won V4 Future Esports Festival over Virtus.Pro. Apart from that, there’s also fnatic, but their online results have been mixed since winning WESG and IEM Katowice; part of this may be due to roster turmoil over Golden’s status within the team.

Boasting a $250,000 prize pool, Marseille also has an untested competitor from Asia, with TyLoo coming to prove themselves with a potent AWPer in xcurrate leading the squad. With their upset potential from StarSeries along with rivals Renegades, anything could happen at Marseille. In a time where dominance is uncertain, Marseille might just turn out to be an exciting event with these new rosters in the field.

Happy betting from EsportsBet, and let’s get into the esports betting analysis and prediction for this bookie match! Make sure to bet wisely.

Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas (powered by EsportsBet)

  • Sweden GeT_RiGhT
  • Sweden REZ
  • Sweden draken
  • Sweden f0rest
  • Sweden dennis
  • Sweden pita (coach)

Two of the 2012 Ninjas in Pyjamas core is left: the legendary duo of GeT_RiGhT and f0rest. Having swapped Xizt for dennis after an abysmal cs_summit 2 run, Ninjas in Pyjamas went on to the playoffs of IEM Katowice, eventually losing to Team Liquid in a best of three. One could say that their results have slightly improved, as the Ninjas in Pyjamas have secured their spot in the ESL Pro League Finals in Dallas; ECS has been different for them, as they’re currently in the middle of the pack with a slim chance to make the finals.

Having removed Xizt should be seen as a huge improvement for Ninjas in Pyjamas. An IGL with inconsistent individual performances and team results overall, it was time for NiP to throw a spanner of the works and shake up their lineup. With the addition of dennis, not only does the team bring a refreshed structure with new coach pita, dennis himself is a pivotal player that can single-handily win rounds with his pistol play. fnatic’s dominant run with dennis on the roster was contributed to by his high kill rate on pistol rounds, which helped fnatic on the majority of their dominating games and comebacks.

Over time, with the additions of REZ and draken beforehand, we’ve seen a shift in roles for the old guards too. GeT_RiGhT has moved on towards a traditional supportive role, whereas f0rest has been shown to play anchor and entry fragger when needed. On the other hand, most of the star roles have been handed upon the youngsters of REZ and draken, both of whom have shown signs of individual brilliance—especially draken—at major events in the past. On T side, expect the Ninjas to play slowly and wait for REZ/draken to get a pick, then playoff the man advantage and enemy information.

Can draken single handedly power Ninjas in Pyjamas to a win and win you your esports betting money? (Credit: Metro)

The Ninjas are best when teams give openings or try to exploit them with aggression, to which the Ninjas counter easily. On the CT side, REZ and draken generally play anchor roles, with both of them being part of the NiP double AWP setup whenever utilized. On the other hand, GeT_RiGhT and f0rest play anchor roles on sites, with dennis usually opting to play rotational spots such as arch on de_inferno.

Albeit, their opening match against SK Gaming was very shaky, with the Brazilians capitalizing on the Ninjas’ mistakes and making a mini-comeback on SK Gaming’s CT side. Luckily, thanks to some even more costlier mistakes from the Brazilians, the Ninjas capitalized on SK’s weak economy and strung together some rounds. If Ninjas in Pyjamas can’t find a way to single handedly dominate a game without having to rely on a star performance from draken, they might be in trouble against an all-out slug-fest mousesports.

Ninjas in Pyjamas’ trademark maps so far have been de_cache and de_train. Surprisingly enough, their form has deteriorated from their trademark map, de_nuke, as shown by recent losses to North and LDLC in the ESL Pro League. Yet, de_cache has also been an ace in the sleeve, which might be pulled out, should their opponents be unwise.

Europe mousesports (powered by EsportsBet)

  • Netherlands chrisJ
  • Czech Republic oskar
  • Estonia ropz
  • Finland suNny
  • Slovakia STYKO
  • Ukraine lmbt (coach)

mousesports, in terms of recent form and achievements, are actually the team that should be the favorites to win Dreamhack Marseille. In 2018 alone, they are one of the two teams (along with fnatic to have won more than one international event on a tier 1 scale (V4 Future Esports Festival and StarLadder i-Series) and have yet to make a roster change to their current lineup since then. Consistently, they have proven time and time again to be a deadly roster to this date.

When you think about stars on this team, it’s usually oskar that is considered to be the hard carry. But, anyone on this team can pop off, and even chrisJ has proved to do it on his specialty map, de_mirage. ropz is the cool headed clutch player, suNny can be a mad dash fragger and pop off absurdly on crunch-time maps, and STYKO is that support rifler who can support and frag on a consistent basis. Overall, the team relies on unusual setups and aggression, as seen from their aggressive pushes on de_mirage mid and their forward A hold against Valiance in their opener.

Will mousesports be the first team to win 3 international titles in 2018? (Credit: mousesports)

The opener was a bit of a shocker, as Valiance almost pulled it back from a 13-2 deficit (flashbacks to QBF if you’re a mouz fan) to defeat mousesports. Luckily, mousesports won 16-13, but it was a match that was way too close for comfort. Albeit, mousesports were in control for most of the game, but it is clear that nerves and cockiness did get in their hands throughout the match.

On their map pool, mousesports are the strongest when it comes to de_mirage or de_inferno, whereas they handle themselves considerably on the rest. de_mirage has been their staple map for a long time, but mousesports have been known to play all 7 maps in the current pool with general consistency.

Arguably, esports betting odds will have them as the favorites for this match, and don’t be surprised to see esports sites and percentages in favor of them. mousesports are arguably the strongest team coming into Marseille, and their esports results and form recently have to show for it.
