The ESL Pro league Season 8 LAN Finals will see the top teams in Counter-Strike in attendance. The teams will compete for a prize pool of $750,000 one of the largest amounts in Counter-Strike outside of the Majors. Every year the ESL Pro League LAN Finals is a way of ending the current season. They are usually held twice in a year and they provide a good understanding of the professional scene at the top level. This tournament will see the top teams such as Astralis, MiBr, Na’Vi, Team Liquid in participation. Their performance at this tournament will be a good prelude to the upcoming months. With the ESL One Katowice Major only a few months away, this tournament will be great preparation for many of the current teams.

The tournament is still in its Group stage and the teams will play their Best of One Opening matches on Day 1. This will be followed by Best of Three series of matches until three teams from each group are selected for the playoffs.

Team Liquid vs G2 Esports

Team Liquid

Team liquid roster :

  • Twistzz
  • Elige
  • NAF Fly
  • Daps
  • TACO

Team Liquid has been inconsistent in their performance so far. Despite being one of the stronger teams in the tournament, they have had inconsistent results in the recent past. The team’s strength is in their individual skill. The likes of Twistzz can be extremely important for the team’s performance at this tournament.

Liquid have turned solid under the flagship of NAF (StarLadder)

Twistzz is the best North American player. His position on Team Liquid has helped him become a very strong team. Twistzz has great aim but it is his positioning on maps like Overpass which make him a strong player. With adequate communication with the rest of the team, we have seen the player make movements across the B Bombsite depending on the information relayed by the rest of the team. The players set him up perfectly for multiple kills and this is why Twistzz is as impactful as he is.

However, it is not only Twistzz who has been performing above average on the team. Players like NAF and Elige have also provided the firepower that the team needs. Elige has been a consistent performer in the North American scene for many years now. His experience of playing at the top level on a consistent basis makes him a very valuable player for the team.

EliGE powered Team Liquid to a swift 2-0 victory against Heroic (Beyond the Summit)

Team Liquid will have to prove themselves once again on LAN. They are mostly met with the Astralis resistance when it comes to playoffs in big tournaments. However, with their recent performances especially with ECS Season 6 LAN finals, we might not see the team in full impact at the team.

G2 Esports

G2 Roster:

  • Jackzz
  • Lucky
  • Shox
  • KennyS
  • Bodyy

The G2 roster underwent a roster change which saw them put two of their most experienced players on the bench. However, with KennyS and Smithzz on the bench, we see the team’s firepower with a significant boost. The team can rely on the two youngsters from 3DMAX to provide them with the necessary frags when it comes to this match. Whether they will be as effective as their time on 3DMAX is still a big question. For many, this answer provides the solution to G2 Esports performance and the lack of their consistency.

Shox’s performance will have to come together in this match if G2 has a realistic chance of winning. However, that is bound to be tough since he is taking the role of the In-Game Leader for the team. The amount of pressure on the player for managing the team and ensuring the best performance from the layers will definitely get to him. Whether he can keep up his individual performance at the same time is the big question here.

KennyS has been exceptionally good over the past few months and we don’t expect anything less from the star AWPer. The player looks even better when it is compared to the performance of his teammates. KennyS is not afraid to take the aggressive peeks that used to define his playstyle in 2014. With the same level of Kenny plays coming into effect, we can expect great things from G2 in the distant future. However, their current performance is not worthy of them reaching the playoffs anytime soon.

Prediction:

Despite Team Liquid’s apparent lack of form, they are still the better team. There are no issues of lack of synergy or firepower on this roster. Instead, the team only lacks individual gameplay which is something that can be remedied very soon. Regardless of their flaws, G2 definitely does not look like its going to turn its fortunes any time soon. The French roster made sure that their performance will see an improvement with the recent roster changes. However, the new additions are vastly inexperienced and they lack the necessary experience on the big stage. So we don’t know how they will perform on LAN in front of so many people at Odense, Denmark.

We recommend a bet on Team LIquid for this match.
